Friends and Family of Nisei Veterans trip slide show
In October 1944, four months after D-Day, the men of the 100th
Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team were attached to the 36th
Division and deployed to Eastern France. After 16 days of brutal
combat they liberated the towns of Biffontaine and Bruyeres, and
rescued some 200 members of the 141st Texas Regiment, "The Lost
Battalion", while sustaining heavy casualties. People of Biffontaine,
Bruyeres, and members of the 141st Regiment haven't forgotten.
In July 2009, six veterans and widow of a seventh returned to the
battlefields of sixty-five years ago as a part of Friends and Family
of Nisei Veterans final tour of Biffontaine and Bruyeres battlefields
to commemorate and celebrate." Click here to view
